“SOME”, “ANY”, “NO”, “NONE” E DERIVATIVOS
Some – algum, alguma, alguns, algumas.
Usamos some antes de substantivos contáveis ou incontáveis em frases afirmativas.
Exemplos:
Paulo and Joana bought some sandwiches to the party.
They have some friends in São Paulo.
She bought some beer, but we prefer some wine.
I will take some money with me.
Usamos some quando se pede ou se oferece algo.
Exemplos:
Could you give me some information, please? (pedido)
Would you like some water? (oferecimento)
Any – algum, alguma, alguns, algumas, nenhum, nenhuma, nenhuns, nenhumas.
Usamos any antes de substantivos contáveis ou incontáveis em frases negativas.
Exemplos:
I don’t have any books with me.
Marcos does not have any friends in Rio.
The TV did not show any news about the earthquake.
We do not have any money here.
Do you have any homework to do?
Does she have any friends in Brasilia?
Usamos any com a ideia de “qualquer” ou “quaisquer” em frases afirmativas.
Exemplos:
You can buy a computer like this at any store.
My friend likes any kind of beer.
Any bus take you to Copacabana.
No – nenhum, nenhuma, nenhuns, nenhumas.
Usado antes de qualquer tipo de substantivo, sempre em frases afirmativas.
Exemplos:
Paula will bring no bags with her.
Sorry, but I have no sugar.
None – nenhum, nenhuma, nenhuns, nenhumas.
Refere-se a qualquer tipo de substantivo, sempre em frases afirmativas.
Exemplos:
Jéssica bought some oranges but Igor bought none.
I want some orange juice, but I think there is none in the refrigerator.
Some, Any, None
Usados com pronomes e substantivos.
Exemplos:
Some of you need to take a cab to go home.
Do any of them speak English?
None of us knows Europe.
Some of the students got zero in the composition.
Did any of the girls prepare the food?
None of the computers was stolen.
Os derivativos seguem a mesma regra de “some”, “any” e “no”:
• somebody/someone (alguém, algum);
• something (algo, alguma coisa);
• somewhere (em algum lugar);
• anybody/anyone (alguém, ninguém);
• anything (algo, alguma coisa, nada);
• anywhere (em algum lugar, em lugar nenhum);
• nobody/no one (ninguém);
• nothing (nada);
• nowhere (em lugar nenhum).
Exemplos:
When I was coming home, I saw somebody/someone looking
at me.
He always goes somewhere with his mother at night.
There is something to eat on the stove.
My father does not know anybody/anyone in Japan.
Do you know anybody/anyone who speaks Russian?
Does your mother go anywhere tonight?
